Install Latest Android Studio Narwhal on Windows [2025]

Step 1: Download Android Studio

• Visit the official Android Studio download page on the Android Developers site and click on the download link.

It will redirect to another page, here click on Download Android Studio Narwhal

• Accept the License Agreement, then click the “Download Android Studio” button

• Download saves an .exe file (e.g. Android Studio installer)

Step 2: Run the Installer

• Locate the downloaded .exe and double-click to launch the installer.

• You may see a User Account Control prompt—click Yes to proceed

• The Android Studio Setup wizard opens. Click Next to continue

Step 3: Select Components & Install Location

• On the Components screen, ensure Android SDK and Android Virtual Device are selected (default settings recommended) 

• Choose an installation path (default is usually fine), then click Next

• Click Install 

Step 4: Complete Installation

• Installation progress screen shows files being copied—can take several minutes (~2 GB)

• Once done, click Finish to run Android Studio

It will launch Android Studio

Step 5: Initial Setup Wizard

• On the first launch you’ll see the Welcome to Android Studio window. Choose Don’t send

• Click in Next button

• Next choose installation type: select Standard (recommended)

Step 6: SDK Component Download

• The setup wizard now downloads required SDK components, command line tools, and optionally emulator system images. Verify settings click Next button

• You may receive Windows security prompts (User Account Control or firewall pop-ups)—click Yes/Allow to continue

• Accept sdk licence and click on Finish button

• Once download completes, click Finish to complete the setup

Step 7: Create & Run New Android Project

• Once setup is done you will get a Welcome page.  Click on New Project Button to create new project

• From the template select Phone and Tablet and project type as Empty Views Activity

• Provide project details and click on Finish Button

• Congratulations!  Your first project is ready

• Hit the play button to view the output of the Hello World program.
